Nothing requires more discipline than freedom.

Assignment: In an essay, discuss your view of the statement above. Support your view with an example or examples from literature, the arts, history, politics, science and technology, current events, or your experience or observation.

The above statement errs by making a false assumption that absolute freedom can be accompanied with discipline. Freedom is the state of one being unrestricted, unrestrained and has the power to do whatever he pleases. Thus, one cannot enjoy freedom if he has to adhere to authoritative rules and regulations.

In the use of issue of cloning, human has performed numerous experiments to perfect the cloning technique so as to allow the freedom of man to produce duplicates of life. It can also be considered as the freedom to prolong ones life or identity and to defy the concept of life and death. However, many scientists have realized that the act of cloning has its repercussions as well as its responsibility to handle. We have almost thought that Dolly was such a success until we realized how it has aged so rapidly towards death. Such an act destroys a living thing which has its own rights to a normal life not to mention that countless embryos that were wasted for the experiment. Governing laws hence came in place by placing restrictions or even bans upon the techniques as a form of discipline. The ban in reproductive cloning in the U.S. is an example. Thus we much realize the fact that not all freedom can exist along with discipline.

Furthermore, there are also other forms of freedom that does not require much more discipline then any other things in life. These include the freedom of speech, the freedom to love and the freedom to dream. With the claim that freedom need not really be governed by disciplinary actions and that freedom may not necessary couple with discipline, I disagree with the above statement.

P.S. Cheryl, comment on it, correct me!!!
