Instead of staying at home and staring at my monitor all day, waiting for a tution job, I decided to make my holiday more fun-filled. I got contacts from some friends and was introduced to join NUS Judo. You don't really have to be a student there to join. Haha, the first lesson was about learning how to break fall which I had also learnt in the army. It's not the same but the general principles still apply. The hardest part for a beginner me was this stance called "rolling breakfall", something that was out of syllabus in the army's close combat training. You have to flip 360 degrees in mid-air and land in a kicking position on the ground. I hurt my back a few times when I landed wrongly. I didm't find it very tough but instead very fun cause everyone's so friendly and willing to teach. Next week, I am going get my "gee", the "Judo's overall". Will try to get a few shots of my amateur action and post it on the net in the next entry.
